My Dog has just been attacked by another dog - what should I do!?

First things first, don’t panic!

Try to stay calm and assess the obvious injuries and wounds that are present.

If there is any active bleeding, call us straight away and we can get you in to see a vet immediately

If your pet looks okay then still give us a call as most bite wounds get infected quite quickly and the wounds can get bigger and deeper as a result.

We don’t often know what damage has occurred under the surface just by looking at wounds so coming in to see us will allow us to plan if any more investigations and treatments are needed.

If you are trying to clean a wound, salt water is your friend.

A tablespoon of salt in a cup of cooled, boiled water is plenty and should be used to gently flush and clean any surface wounds before we can tend to them for you.
